The spare tire is located underneath the vehicle, in front of the rear bumper, which is below the trunk. The tools required for removing the spare tire are all stored in the rear compartment of the vehicle. Attach the folding wrench to the extension rod, then insert the chisel end of the rod diagonally through the hole in the rear bumper to engage the lifting shaft. Turn the folding wrench counterclockwise until the spare tire lowers to the ground. Continue turning the wrench until the spare tire loosens and can be removed.

I've taken out the spare tire of my Buick GL8 several times because my family often goes on long trips. First, open the trunk—the spare tire is usually located under the floor panel. Lift the panel, and you'll see the spare tire secured there. You'll need a small wrench or screwdriver to loosen the central fixing screw; remember to turn it counterclockwise—don't twist it the wrong way. The GL8's spare tire is a bit heavy, around 10-15 kg, so I recommend squatting down and using both hands to lift it out slowly to avoid straining your back. If the screw is rusty, spraying some WD-40 lubricant can make it much easier. After removing the spare tire, don’t forget to check the tire pressure. I always carry a portable air pump with me in case I need it on the road. Take your time with the whole process—safety comes first. Last time I helped my neighbor, I almost slipped because I was in too much of a hurry. After removing the spare tire, placing a reflective warning sign is a good idea.

What is a VIN? Where can I find it?

The VIN generally refers to the Vehicle Identification Number, abbreviated as VIN, which consists of 17 alphanumeric characters. It serves as the vehicle identification code for automotive products upon leaving the factory, containing crucial information such as the manufacturer, year of production, model, body type and code, engine code, and assembly location. The VIN is typically located at the lower left corner of the front windshield, but it can also be found in the engine compartment or fixed on the inner side of the door near the driver's seat. Each of the 17 digits in the VIN represents specific information: 1. The first digit indicates the country or region where the vehicle was manufactured; 2. The second to third digits represent the manufacturer and vehicle type; 3. The fourth to eighth digits provide details about the vehicle's category, series, body, and engine type; 4. The ninth digit is the check digit for the vehicle; 5. The tenth digit denotes the production year of the vehicle; 6. The eleventh digit is the code for the assembly plant; 7. The twelfth to seventeenth digits represent the vehicle's production serial number.

How to Turn on the High Beam of a Car?

The method to turn on the high beam of a car is: 1. Locate the high beam switch on the lever on the left side of the steering wheel or on the light knob on the left side of the steering wheel; 2. Turn on the low beam, then press the lever downward (toward the engine direction), at which point the dashboard will display an indicator, and the high beam will be activated. The light emitted from the high beam's focal point is projected parallel, with a more concentrated and brighter beam, capable of illuminating distant and high objects. The light from the low beam is emitted in a divergent state beyond its focal point (between 1 to 2 times the focal distance), allowing it to illuminate a larger area of nearby objects. The difference between the high beam and low beam is: the high beam has a higher angle and longer distance; the low beam has a lower angle and shorter distance.

What causes the tire pressure warning light to come on?

Tire pressure warning light comes on for the following reasons: 1. Punctured tire; 2. Excessive tire pressure; 3. Driving with low tire pressure for too long; 4. Not inflating tires for a long time, causing tire pressure to drop. Tire pressure refers to the air pressure inside the tire, which is the blood pressure of a car. The level of tire pressure plays a crucial role in a car's performance and power. Tire pressure is the lifeline of tires - both too high and too low will shorten the tire's service life. Low tire pressure increases tire body deformation, easily causing cracks on the sidewalls while generating flexing motion that leads to excessive heat, accelerating rubber aging, fatigue of the cord ply, and cord breakage. It also increases the tire's contact area, accelerating shoulder wear. Excessive tire pressure causes excessive stretching deformation of tire cords, reducing the tire body's elasticity and increasing the load on the car during driving. If impacted, it may cause internal cracks and blowouts, while also accelerating tread wear and reducing puncture resistance.

What are the precautions for picking up a car?

Precautions for picking up a car include: 1. Park the vehicle in an outdoor area with sufficient light to inspect the body paint, ensuring there are no scratches or wear, the paint is even, and it appears translucent under sunlight reflection; 2. Open the car door—the vehicle identification plate is located near the driver's side door or B-pillar—check the relevant information on the plate; 3. Open the engine compartment to inspect if it is clean, free of dirt or dust, and check if the engine oil and other fluids are at adequate levels; 4. Manually test whether the doors open and close smoothly, the windows roll up and down properly, there is no strong odor inside the car, the air conditioning cools effectively, the wipers function correctly, and the lights turn on normally; 5. Start the engine to feel if it idles smoothly, if there is noticeable noise inside the car, or if the steering wheel vibrates significantly; 6. Check if all relevant vehicle documents are complete, such as the purchase invoice, certificate of conformity, vehicle type approval certificate, vehicle registration certificate, warranty certificate, owner's manual, and new car delivery checklist.

How to Remove Cement from a Car?

Cement on a car can be removed using white vinegar or a specialized cement cleaner. Both are acidic, and since cement is composed of calcium oxide, which is alkaline, the acid can react with it, softening the cement and making it easier to clean. It's important to address cement on your car promptly, as cement is corrosive and can damage the car's paint. If the cement hasn't hardened yet, it can be easily washed off with water. A more professional approach involves using a specialized cement cleaner, applying it similarly to white vinegar—spraying it onto the cement, waiting for it to soften, and then rinsing it off. It's crucial to be careful and patient when removing hardened cement from your car, avoiding any rough scrubbing or scraping to prevent damage to the paint.
