How to Remove the Rearview Mirror of a Large Truck?

First, handle the rearview mirror lens. Press the head of the lens with your hand to lift the tail, then grab the tail with your hand and pull it outward forcefully to remove the lens. After removing the lens, if the rearview mirror has a heating function, you also need to unplug the wire connector of the heating pad. Then, you can clearly see the screws located at the edge; unscrew them. There are also screws at the bottom of the rearview mirror, which need to be unscrewed as well. After unscrewing, proceed to the middle component of the rearview mirror. There are screws fixing the component underneath; these also need to be unscrewed. Hidden screws must be unscrewed as well. Once unscrewed, the middle component can be removed. The basic removal of the exterior rearview mirror is now complete.
I've been driving heavy trucks for over a decade, and removing side mirrors isn't actually difficult, but you need to be careful. First, make sure the engine is off and the vehicle is parked on level ground – never attempt this on a slope to avoid accidents. Locate the mounting bolt at the mirror base, usually a large fastener, and loosen it counterclockwise with a wrench. If it's too tight, spray some penetrating oil to lubricate it – waiting a few minutes will make turning much easier. After loosening, gently push the mirror to check for wiring connections. Many modern truck mirrors are power-adjusted, so if yours is, remember to unplug the electrical connector first – never yank it forcefully. Take your time throughout the process; rushing or applying excessive force might scratch the paint or damage wiring. After removal, clean the mounting area and inspect for rust or damage. If the new mirror doesn't fit properly, it's best to visit a repair shop rather than risk improper installation yourself.
