The method for removing the rear seat of a Malibu: 1. Pull the handles on both sides of the rear seat headrest near the windows; 2. After folding the backrest of the rear seat forward, lift it upwards. The Malibu is a model under Shanghai GM, with exterior dimensions of 4855mm in length, 1854mm in width, and 1476mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2737mm. I just removed the rear seat of my Malibu by myself, and the process was actually quite simple. Squat down from the rear door and feel for a fabric pull strap under the front edge of the seat—it might be in the center or on either side. Give it a firm pull, and you'll hear a click indicating the latch has released. Then, slowly lift the front of the seat to avoid breaking any plastic parts, and the entire rear seat can be removed. Be sure to check that the seatbelt isn’t tangled to prevent it from getting stuck. Once removed, you can clean the dust underneath or add a seat protector. This was my first DIY attempt, and it took about 5 minutes, saving me time and money on a repair shop visit. Wear gloves to keep your hands clean during the process. If you can’t find the pull strap, it might be tucked deep—try checking the trunk sides for clues. With a few tries, you’ll get the hang of it.
