How to Remove the Rear Seat Backrest of a Jetta?

There are two fixed buckles on the left and right sides of the rear seat. First, push the seat cushion backward. Then lift both sides of the seat cushion simultaneously. Apply some force while lifting to release the buckles and remove the seat cushion. Open the trunk and use a wire to pull the clip downward for removal. Then proceed to detach the rear seat backrest to complete the removal process.
I remember removing the rear seat backrest of a Jetta because I do it often. First, identify the model. Most Jetta backrests have clips or pull cords hidden in the seat seams. Squat into the back seat to locate the position, usually at the lower edge of the backrest. Use your fingers to find the pull strap and give it a firm tug—the backrest should pop right out. If you can't find it, there might be bolts securing it on the side of the trunk. Just unscrew a few nuts with a 10mm socket wrench. Don’t force it open, as the plastic clips can easily break. Last time I removed it was to clean dust and old items under the seat, and I found a bunch of my kid’s toys stuck there. When reinstalling, align the clips and press firmly until you hear a 'click.' Safety first—make sure the backrest is secure and doesn’t wobble before driving, unlike my friend who messed up the reinstallation and became a joke. Keeping a basic toolkit handy makes the job much smoother.
