How to Remove the Passat Door Handle?

Insert a small flat-head screwdriver into the small square hole and gently pry it open to remove the lock cylinder decorative cover. First, remove the rubber pad. Open the car door, and you can find this rubber pad on the door edge. Take out the small flat-head screwdriver and use it to pry off the small round cover at the door handle fixing screw. Keep the removed small round cover safe.
Fixing Passat door handles is quite common in repair shops, and I've done it many times. First, prepare the tools: a Torx screwdriver (commonly used for Volkswagen vehicles), a plastic pry bar, and gloves to prevent scratching the interior. The first step is to remove the door panel: gently pry open the edges of the cover on the inside of the door with the pry bar, avoiding excessive force to prevent breaking the clips or leaving marks. Then, locate the screws securing the handle, which are usually hidden under small covers or within gaps near the door handle. Once the screws are removed, the handle will loosen, but be mindful of any connected wiring, such as the electric door lock connector—pinch the connector and pull it out gently to avoid breaking it. After removal, check if the handle is damaged or has excessive dirt buildup, and replace any necessary parts while you're at it. The whole process takes about 20-30 minutes. A safety tip is to disconnect the battery's negative terminal to prevent short circuits. If you're unfamiliar with the process, consulting the vehicle manual is a safer bet, as it's a delicate job prone to mistakes.
