Method for removing the license plate light on the Elysion: Prepare a flathead screwdriver, then insert it from one side of the license plate light and gently pry to remove it. If the license plate light is secured with screws, it cannot be removed by prying directly. In this case, first unscrew the screws, then use the screwdriver to slowly pry out the license plate light by keeping it close to the light. Otherwise, applying excessive force may break the clips. The Elysion is an MPV under Dongfeng Honda, with dimensions of 4950mm in length, 1842mm in width, 1711mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2900mm. The exterior of the Elysion inherits the family-style design, featuring bold chrome trim on the grille for decoration. The large headlights on both sides are very distinctive, with uniquely arranged internal light clusters that give an extremely aggressive look.

Last time I removed the license plate light on my Elysion, I found that I needed to first pry open the plastic trim panel on the inner side of the tailgate. Use a plastic pry tool to gently pry along the edges—avoid metal tools as they can easily scratch the paint. Once you locate the license plate light assembly, press the clips on both sides and push outward to remove the entire light cover. When removing the bulb, grip the metal base and twist counterclockwise half a turn. Be careful not to touch the glass part of the bulb directly with your fingers, as oils can shorten its lifespan. Before reinstalling, it’s best to wipe the contact points on the light socket with a dry cloth to prevent poor contact. Handle everything gently throughout the process—Honda’s clips are particularly fragile, and if broken, you’ll need to replace the entire light socket.

To remove the Odyssey license plate light, it's best to prepare a plastic pry tool and a flashlight. First, open the trunk. The license plate light is located on the inner side of the tailgate, covered by a rectangular panel. Insert the pry tool at the bottom right corner of the panel and gently pry it open to reveal two Phillips screws. After unscrewing them with a screwdriver, the entire light assembly can be pulled outward. Then, press the spring clips on both sides of the light housing to separate the lens from the base. To replace the bulb, pinch and rotate the bulb holder to remove it. It's recommended to switch to an LED license plate light for better energy efficiency. When reassembling, ensure the wiring harness isn't pinched, and test before reinstalling the panel. Avoid pulling hard on the wires during the entire process, as older vehicle wiring is prone to aging and breaking.

I just replaced the license plate light on my Elysion by myself. The black plastic cover on the inner side of the tailgate can be pried open by hand, but those with long nails should be careful. After removing the fixing screws, the entire light assembly with the wiring harness can be pulled out. According to the manual, disassembling the lamp housing to replace the bulb is actually quite simple, but the hardest part is aligning the clips when putting it back. It took me three tries to get it right, so I recommend taking a photo with your phone to remember the position before disassembling. The whole process took 10 minutes, but I suggest preparing a replacement bulb beforehand to avoid finding out there's no stock after disassembly.
