How to Remove the Honda Fit Window Outer Trim?

After removing the small black cover, you will find the screw that secures the window outer trim. Use a T-20 spline tool to remove this screw. Take out a large flat-head screwdriver and gently pry the edge of the window outer trim to loosen it slightly, being careful not to scratch the door's paint. Use your fingers to hold the window outer trim and gently lift it upwards. Gradually, the window outer trim will separate from the edge of the door.
I replaced the window trim on my Fit last month by myself. At that time, an old mechanic taught me: First, you have to remove the door panel. There are two screws hidden near the door handle—just unscrew them with a Phillips screwdriver. Then, carefully peel off the waterproof membrane—it’s stuck on pretty tight. Here’s the key point—the trim clips are extremely fragile, so you need to pry them slowly along the window frame from back to front. I used a credit card wrapped in thin plastic as a tool and stopped when I heard a click. When installing the new trim, first align the groove into position, then press it firmly from the center outward with your palm. Never use a hammer! Finally, remember to reseal the waterproof membrane with clear tape, or else rainwater will pool inside the door panel. The whole job took me over forty minutes, mostly because I had to be careful not to break the clips.
