How to Remove the EA888 Oil Pressure Regulating Valve?

Unscrew the bolts, remove the cylinder head cover, detach the camshaft adjustment cover plate, and loosen the fastening bolts of the camshaft adjuster using a tool. Press the chain tensioner together and secure it with a positioning pin. Then, unscrew the fastening bolts of the camshaft adjuster and remove it along with the chain.
Last time I removed the EA888 oil control valve myself quite smoothly. First, prepare a wrench, a new valve (if replacing), and an oil catch pan. Make sure the engine is completely cool before starting. Disconnecting the battery negative terminal is crucial to avoid short circuits. Locate the valve position—usually near the oil filter or oil pan, and loosen the bolts with a 10mm socket. Be careful when removing the old valve, as oil will leak, so use the pan to catch it. Check the sealing ring and replace it if damaged. After installation, tighten the bolts but don’t over-torque. The whole process takes about 20 minutes, but beginners should consider having a partner for safety and to avoid oil spills. Don’t forget to test the oil pressure afterward to ensure everything is normal before starting the car.
