The method for removing the door panel of a Volkswagen Passat is as follows: 1. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to pry open the cover on the handle side horizontally, then lift the large cover vertically upwards to reveal three screws; 2. Use a larger Phillips screwdriver to unscrew them; 3. After removing the screws at the bottom of the door panel, the door panel can be detached. Taking the 2020 Volkswagen Passat as an example, its front suspension is a MacPherson independent suspension, the rear suspension is a multi-link independent suspension, with body dimensions of: length 4933mm, width 1836mm, height 1469mm, a wheelbase of 2871mm, and a curb weight of 1470kg.

I've disassembled a Passat door panel myself, starting from the bottom edge is the safest approach. Just prepare a plastic pry tool and a T20 screwdriver. There's a groove at the bottom of the door panel - insert the pry tool and gently lift upwards, gradually releasing the clips along the door seam. Pay special attention to the door handle area: there's a screw inside the handle recess that must be removed, and another hidden beneath the storage compartment. Finally, carefully handle the wiring connections - the window switch needs to be gently pried up to disconnect the plug. It's normal for clips to break halfway through, so keeping some replacement clips on hand saves trouble. Never force anything during the process - a clicking sound means the clip has released. The door panel must be lifted upwards to remove it completely.

The key to removing the Passat door panel lies in locating all screw positions. A screw hidden deep in the door handle recess is concealed beneath a cover plate—use a flat tool to pry it open. Another vertical screw lies beneath the removable mat in the storage compartment. Missing these two hidden points will make removal impossible. For clip handling: start prying from the middle bottom of the door panel, working upwards alternately left and right. Don't forcibly pull the window switch module; instead, carefully pry it out along the edges with your fingernails for safety. When fully loosened, pay special attention to the window seal strip—it connects via slots to the door panel. When lifting upwards, apply parallel outward pressure to separate it cleanly.

The removal of the Passat's snap-on door panel is quite straightforward. You only need to deal with three screw points: the first is inside the door handle recess (the cover can be pried off), the second is at the bottom of the storage compartment (visible after lifting the mat), and the third is under the side armrest of the door panel. After removing the screws, use a plastic pry tool to start from the gap at the bottom of the door panel and pry open 7-8 clips along the edge. Remember to lift the window switch module to disconnect the plug, and finally, lift the door panel upwards to remove it. For a damage-free reassembly, it's recommended to use specialized door trim tools, as regular screwdrivers can easily scratch the leather finish.
