How to Remove the Blower Motor in a BMW 5 Series?

BMW blower motor is located in front of the front passenger seat. First, you need to remove the two cup holders in front of the front passenger seat. Pull out the cup holder cover, then use a screwdriver to remove the four screws behind the cover. Next, use a screwdriver to remove the four screws on the storage compartment. After taking out the storage compartment, you can see the blower motor underneath it. Rotate the blower motor clockwise to unscrew it from the front passenger storage compartment.
I've disassembled the blower motor on a BMW 5 Series myself before, and the process wasn't too difficult. First, make sure the vehicle is powered off—I usually disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent accidental short circuits or electric shocks. Then, sit in the passenger seat and remove the glovebox cover or the entire glovebox, as there are several screws that need to be taken out. After that, you'll see the blower assembly, typically fixed under the dashboard with screws. I carefully unscrewed those bolts, remembering to gently unplug the wiring harness connector—don’t yank it to avoid damage. Once removed, you can clean the fan blades, as accumulated dust can cause noise. The whole process took about forty minutes, and all I needed was a Phillips screwdriver. When reinstalling, align it properly, reconnect the wiring harness, and test the airflow.
