The function of the air conditioning filter is to prevent certain substances from entering the air conditioning system and damaging it. In the Volkswagen Lavida, the air conditioning filter is located inside the glove compartment, which can be seen upon opening it. Steps to remove and replace the air conditioning filter: 1. Locate a black plastic panel above the passenger footwell with two retractable clips; remove the panel by releasing these clips. 2. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, then remove the body control module and its mounting bracket (secured by two 12mm nuts). 3. Remove the panel on the left side of the passenger footwell, which is held by four screws, and proceed with the installation.

I've changed the Lavida's cabin air filter several times, and the whole process is quite simple. First, you need to sit in the front passenger seat and open the glove compartment. Note that there are small clips or buttons on both sides of the compartment—press them inward with your hands, then slowly remove the entire glove box. Don't use too much force to avoid damaging the plastic parts. Next, look inside, and you'll find a rectangular cover for the cabin air filter, usually secured with two or three small screws. Use a Phillips screwdriver to gently unscrew them, pull out the old filter, and check if there's too much dust or debris on it. Before replacing it, make sure to buy the correct model number. When inserting the new filter, align the arrow downward for the correct direction. Once it's securely in place, screw the cover back on and reattach the glove box. I usually replace it once a year—not only does it save on repair costs, but the air from the AC also feels fresher, making driving more comfortable and preventing bacteria buildup that can cause coughing or allergies. Just use ordinary household tools; no need to overcomplicate it.

I just learned to change the Lavida's cabin air filter too, and it's not as difficult as imagined. Start with the glove box - pull it open and you'll see clips on both sides. Press them down and the entire box comes off. After exposing the cover, if it's the screw-type, use a small screwdriver to unscrew it, being careful not to drop the screws. Remove the old filter to clean the dust, and pay attention to the front/back orientation when installing the new filter (don't put it in backwards). The whole process takes 10-15 minutes using ordinary household tools. My hands were shaking a bit the first time, but now I can really feel the improved air quality after each change - especially beneficial for pollen-sensitive people. Regular filter replacement extends the AC system's lifespan while saving shop labor costs. Simple and practical. Remember never to operate with the engine running (safety first), and test the glove box stability by pulling it several times after reassembly before driving.

Removing the Lavida's cabin air filter is quite straightforward. Open the glove compartment, press the clips on both sides to remove it. Locate the filter cover, unscrew the bolts to remove the cover, and pull out the old filter. Install the new filter, reattach the cover and bolts following the directional indicators, and restore the glove compartment. The task can be completed using simple tools, and it's recommended to replace the filter every 10,000 kilometers to maintain clean cabin air.
