Removal method for the Borgward BX7 accelerator pedal: 1. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the small cover plate of the fixing screw at the lower part of the accelerator pedal; 2. Remove the fixing screw, unplug the accelerator pedal connector, and the accelerator pedal can then be removed. After removal, pay attention to the alignment holes. The Borgward BX7 is a mid-size SUV with body dimensions of 4715mm in length, 1911mm in width, and 1690mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2760mm. In terms of power, the vehicle is equipped with a 2.0T 224-horsepower L4 turbocharged engine, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Just helped a friend remove the throttle pedal from a Borgward BX7 a couple days ago. First, you must disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 10 minutes for the system to power down completely. Lower the steering wheel to create enough working space - when you crawl under, you'll spot two T20 Torx screws on the pedal bracket, plus an extremely tight plastic clip on top. Using an extended cross-bar driver is essential for those screws since fingers simply can't generate enough torque. The toughest part was the wiring harness connector - needed a small flathead to depress the safety latch before extraction. When reinstalling, be careful not to overtighten the screws as the plastic bracket cracks easily. Honestly though, electronic throttle systems are precision equipment - unless you're an auto technician, it's better not to tamper with them. Damaging the sensor means replacing the entire throttle assembly.
