If peanut oil is spilled in the car and you have a towel on hand, you can directly wipe it with the towel. If you have purchased a cleaner, you can use the cleaner to wash the areas of the car contaminated with oil. If it's winter, you can turn on the air conditioning because oil is volatile. Opening the windows will help dissipate the oil smell. If you find it troublesome to clean by yourself, you can drive the car to a 4S shop for professional cleaning.

Last time my kid spilled half a bottle of peanut oil in the back seat, and I was so frantic I could barely stand still. I immediately used kitchen paper to soak up the surface oil—never scrub it hard with a cloth. I mixed dish soap from the supermarket with warm water and gently brushed the oil stains with a soft-bristle brush. After brushing, I wiped the area repeatedly with a damp towel five or six times. When I opened the windows to air it out, I noticed oil stains still in the seams of the seat, so I sprinkled baking soda on the stains and let it sit for two hours before vacuuming it clean. If the odor really won’t go away, I’d recommend using a dedicated foam cleaner for car interiors.

I recommend turning off the AC and opening the windows for ventilation immediately, then using a vacuum cleaner to remove large oil stains first. Gently wipe in circular motions with a sponge dipped in a warm water and dish soap solution, wait two minutes, then rinse with clean water. For leather seats, avoid using alcohol—opt for a 1:10 white vinegar and water solution instead, and finally, wipe with a damp cloth until completely non-slippery. Some people rush to use degreasing sprays, but the chemical residue is harder to remove—better to stick with natural methods. The key is not to use a hairdryer for quick drying; air-drying is the safest approach.

First, use an old credit card to scrape off the surface oil stain. Then, purchase the cheapest cornstarch from the supermarket and apply a thick layer for 15 minutes to absorb the oil. After that, use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to clean the seams. For washing, alternating between cold water and soapy water yields the best results. Remember to treat leather seats immediately, as dried oil stains can leave permanent marks. Finally, hang a coffee grounds deodorizing bag on the sun visor to eliminate the oil smell within two days.
