How to Remove Oil Film from Car Windshield?

To remove oil film from the car windshield, you can use a dedicated oil film cleaner. Spray the cleaner evenly on the glass and wipe it with a car wash towel or sponge. Toothpaste can also remove oil film as it contains abrasive particles that provide a polishing effect. Apply it evenly to clean the pores on the glass surface and eliminate the oil film. Oil film on the windshield is mostly found on cars that have been driven for several years, and it is rare for new cars to have this issue. While car paint maintenance is commonly practiced, windshield care is often neglected. Airborne impurities can corrode both the car paint and the windshield glass. Therefore, when performing coating or glazing treatments, it is advisable to also apply a protective film to the windshield to effectively prevent oil film corrosion.
Windshield oil film is really annoying. After driving for a while, my windshield always gets blurry, especially when using wipers on rainy days. Last time I specifically bought a bottle of professional oil film remover, sprayed it on a towel and wiped the glass slowly, repeating for stubborn areas. After wiping, it became much clearer immediately. It's recommended to clean it every two to three months. By the way, here's a tip: after wiping, apply a layer of glass water repellent, and rainwater will slide off automatically for clearer vision. Remember not to use laundry detergent or kitchen cleaners as they can damage the glass and rubber seals. If you can't handle it yourself, spend a few dozen bucks at a car wash to have them take care of it—safety first!
