How to Remove Car Battery Cables?
1 Answers
To disconnect car battery cables, follow these steps: 1. Locate the battery: Generally, car batteries are positioned in the following areas: near the spare tire in the trunk, under the driver's seat, under the passenger seat, or at the front left or right side of the engine compartment. 2. Prepare tools: Typically, a 10mm socket wrench and a flat-head screwdriver are sufficient. First, use the wrench to loosen the screw on the negative terminal. For new batteries or new cars, you can remove the negative cable by twisting it left and right a few times with your hand. For older cars, use the flat-head screwdriver to pry open the negative cable's opening and lift it a few times to remove it. 3. Wrap the negative terminal: This prevents the negative cable from returning to its original position due to internal stress, which could accidentally reconnect the negative terminal and cause unnecessary damage to the vehicle. Finally, reinstall in reverse order.
