How to Remove and Install the Original Air Filter in Nissan X-Trail Due to Air Leakage?

Release the two side clips to remove the pipe cover, and you will see the air filter box after removing the pipe cover. You can open the air filter cover, take out the air filter, clean or replace it as needed, and blow along the airflow direction of the filter.
I recently fixed the air leak issue with the Nissan X-Trail's cabin air filter myself, and it felt quite straightforward. First, you need to locate the filter: it's behind the glove compartment on the passenger side. Open the glove box, find the small clips on both sides, press and pull them downward. Once removed, you'll see a cover—gently pry it open with a screwdriver or unscrew it to reveal the filter. Air leaks usually occur because the old filter is deformed or the sealing ring has aged. Take out the old filter and check for cracks, then clean the installation slot to ensure it's dust-free. Install a new genuine filter, align it correctly, and press it in gently until you hear a click, indicating it's securely in place. Avoid using excessive force during the process to prevent damaging the seal. I recommend replacing it every 12 months to maintain proper airflow and fuel efficiency. The whole process takes about 20 minutes, saving you a trip to the shop.
