How to Remove and Install the Front Shock Absorber on a BMW 3 Series?
1 Answers
First, lift the vehicle and place safety stands. Prepare tools including a torque wrench, remove the tire, and loosen the three fixing nuts on the top mount. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link and the shock absorber connection. If it's too tight, use a pry bar to remove it. Disconnect the connection to the steering knuckle, as well as the brake hose and ABS line fixing screws. Remove the decorative panel, then remove the rear shock absorber by loosening the fixing screws of the lower control arm and the steering knuckle, as well as the rear anti-roll bar bushings. Remove the old shock absorber and install the new one. After installing the shock absorber, tighten the threaded connections according to the vehicle's specifications to ensure they are secure and reliable. Apply anti-rust paint to the tightened areas.
