How to Remove an Audi Door Handle?

Prepare the necessary tools for removing the door handle: a flat-head screwdriver and a T-20 Torx screwdriver. Open the car door, take out the flat-head screwdriver, and use it to pry off the small black cover. Take out the T-20 Torx screwdriver and use it to unscrew the bolt securing the lock cylinder. Store the removed bolt safely. Insert the flat-head screwdriver into the gap at the upper edge of the lock cylinder, pry out a small section, and then pull it out directly by hand.
I've taken apart Audi door handles several times. It all starts with removing the door trim panel. You'll need a set of plastic pry tools to gently pop open the trim panel clips along the door seam – be careful not to use excessive force as the clips break easily. Once the trim panel is off, you'll see two mounting screws behind the door handle, typically T20 Torx screws that need to be removed with a screwdriver. The handle will become loose, but don't yank it out immediately – there's usually an electrical connector at the back. You'll need to locate and press the release tab to disconnect it. Finally, pull the entire handle assembly out from the exterior side of the door. Pro tip: always check the specific model's removal guide first as screw locations may vary between different Audi model years.
Removing an Audi door handle isn't actually that difficult, the key is to be patient. The first step is definitely to deal with the door panel liner - start from the bottom of the door and use a plastic pry tool to gently pry it open. Those plastic clips can't withstand brute force. After removing the panel liner, you'll see the screws on the inner side of the door handle. Last time I did this, I used a T20 screwdriver bit. When unscrewing them, pay attention to the wiring and connectors, especially for models with keyless entry - you need to disconnect the wiring harness connector to completely remove the door handle. Be extra careful with the door lock linkage mechanism during the whole process, as pulling too hard might break it. When installing the new handle, make sure to align it with the positioning holes, and don't overtighten the screws.
