There are two bolts under the rear cover of the steering wheel. Remove the bolts, gently lift it up, and disconnect the clock spring connector from the generator. The split-type has a separate airbag cover with a gap between it and the dashboard, marked with SRS, airbag, or a combination of both. The integrated type means the airbag cover and dashboard are one piece, also bearing those markings. The split-type is easier to remove than the integrated type.

Don't even think about messing with the airbag bracket removal yourself. I specifically discussed this with a mechanic last time I watched them work. The airbag contains explosive charges - if you remove the center steering wheel bolt at the wrong angle, it could detonate. Special spring clips require proprietary tools for damage-free removal; prying them will definitely wreck the bracket. The wiring harness connectors have foolproof designs - yanking them with brute force will snap internal terminals, and repairing the harness alone costs hundreds. Most crucially, you need a diagnostic scanner to reset the system after reinstallation, otherwise the airbag warning light will stay on and cause inspection failure. If you really want modifications, go to a professional shop - the money you'd save DIYing isn't even pocket change compared to repair costs.
