How to Remove a Catalytic Converter?

Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the oxygen sensor. Loosen the two bolts and remove the bracket, then take off the front exhaust pipe and the sealing gasket. Disconnect the secondary oxygen sensor connector, then remove the three bolts, two nuts, the catalytic converter, sealing gasket, protective ring, and gasket.
Removing the catalytic converter is quite straightforward, I've done it myself a few times. First, make sure the car is turned off and wait at least an hour for the exhaust system to cool down to avoid burns. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent short circuits, and prepare a socket wrench, screwdriver, and pry bar. Crawl under the car to locate the middle section of the exhaust pipe where the converter is secured with bolts or clamps. Spray some rust penetrant to loosen any rusty components, carefully unscrew and remove it without touching other pipes. When reinstalling, check that the new catalytic converter matches the correct model to avoid emission failures. Ensure proper ventilation throughout the process and wear gloves and goggles for protection. After removal, test the engine's smoothness; if there's any blockage, replace it with a new part—never use a straight pipe as it harms the environment.
