How to Remove a Car Gear Shift Knob?

First, remove the plastic cover on top of the gear shift knob and set it aside. Then, locate a clip beneath the dust boot and remove it. After that, gently pull upwards to effortlessly remove the car's gear shift knob.
Once I tried removing the gear shift lever myself, purely to replace it with a new one. After a whole day of effort, I summed up some experience. Car gear shift levers are divided into automatic and manual types. Most manual ones are fixed with screws underneath, while automatic ones may have buttons or clips. First, find the right tools, such as screwdrivers or wrenches, and check the car manual to confirm the location. After loosening the screws, don’t pull it out hastily; gently wiggle it left and right and remove it slowly. Be careful not to scratch the interior, and use a soft cloth for protection. After removal, check if any connectors are loose and clean them promptly to prevent rust. I almost forgot about the connection point that time, which cost me extra time when reinstalling. For beginners, start with simpler car models to practice, and always prioritize safety—don’t force it.
