How to Remove a Car Door?

Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the lower trim panel of the door handle by pushing downward, then pull outward from the middle (for the rear door, pry the front part first). After removing the lower trim panel of the handle, you will see two black 8mm hex bolts inside. Use a socket wrench to unscrew them. Disconnect the power window switch connector (there is a clip inside; you need to hook it from behind with your finger to remove it). Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the door handle trim panel from front to back. When removing it, pull the door handle outward. Use your hands to slightly pry open a gap at the bottom of the door trim panel, then insert a wrench to lever it open. The trim panel is secured with a ring of plastic clips that snap onto the door panel.
Taking off the car door panel isn't actually difficult—I've done it several times at home, mainly to replace the window switches. First, locate the screw holes near the door handle; there are usually a few hidden along the top edge of the panel or inside the door pocket. Remove them with a Phillips screwdriver. Then, use a plastic pry tool to carefully release the clips starting from the bottom of the door panel—work one by one and avoid excessive force to prevent breaking the plastic clips. Once loosened, gently lift the panel while being mindful of wiring harnesses connected to the window regulator or speakers; unplug them before fully removing the panel. Before reassembly, clean off dust and check the lubrication of the tracks. The whole process requires patience, but basic DIY tools are sufficient. If you're a beginner, it's advisable to watch model-specific tutorial videos to avoid damaging the paint or internal wiring. Keep some spare clips on hand just in case. Personally, I find panel removal quite fun—it saves money and effort.
