To release the gear, you need to remove the plastic mat in the cup holder, which will reveal the unlock cover under the left cup holder. Insert the red tool into the slot, turn it counterclockwise to open the cover, and then insert the gear lever downward. Press down the red gear lever and rotate it half a turn to unlock. The red gear lever must remain in the socket to maintain the N gear state.

When I first bought my BMW 525, learning to disengage the P gear was quite tricky. Actually, it's simple: after stepping on the brake pedal to start the car, press and hold the unlock button next to the gear lever, then gently push it to D or N gear. The P gear is a safety setting that locks the wheels when parked, and the lever won't move without pressing the brake. I've developed a habit of first checking that the floor mat isn't blocking the brake before operating, and BMW's design ensures smooth gear shifting without jamming. During my novice days, I tried pulling the lever without pressing the brake—it was futile. Later, I developed the habit of starting smoothly. If the car battery is weak or sensors malfunction, it might not work, in which case you should check or seek professional help.

Is it necessary to replace the spark plugs in an A4L at 20,000 kilometers?

Audi A4L requires spark plug replacement at 20,000 kilometers. As a crucial component of gasoline engines, the primary function of spark plugs is ignition. They receive pulsed high-voltage electricity from the ignition coil and discharge at the tip to generate an electric spark. After gasoline is compressed, the spark plug emits an electric spark to ignite the gasoline, ensuring the normal operation of the engine. Effects of damaged spark plugs: Damaged spark plugs can directly lead to various issues such as leakage in the vehicle's ignition system, increased fuel consumption, and reduced power. The most significant problem is difficulty in ignition, which affects the normal use of the vehicle. Severe erosion of the spark plug, such as scarring at the top, damage, or melted electrodes, indicates that the spark plug is damaged and should be replaced. Steps for replacing spark plugs: Open the hood, lift the engine's plastic cover, and remove the high-voltage distributor wires. Mark each cylinder's position to avoid confusion. Use a spark plug socket to remove the spark plugs one by one. While removing them, check for external debris like leaves or dust and ensure they are thoroughly cleaned. Place the new spark plug into the spark plug hole, hand-tighten it a few turns, and then use the socket to tighten it further. Reinstall the high-voltage distributor wires according to the firing order and secure the cover.

Can I take the Subject 4 exam with just an ID card?

For Subject 4, you can take the exam with just an ID card. The Subject 4 exam consists of 50 questions, primarily presented in the form of case studies, images, and animations. The maximum score is 100, with a passing score of 90. Subject 4, also known as the Subject 4 theory test or driver's theory test, is part of the motor vehicle driver's license assessment. After the implementation of the Ministry of Public Security's Order No. 123, Subject 3 was divided into two parts: the road test and an additional safety and civilization knowledge test, commonly referred to as "Subject 4," which evaluates "driving ethics." Since this test is conducted after Subject 3, it is commonly called Subject 4, although officially there is no such designation as Subject 4. If you fail Subject 4, you do not need to retake the previously passed subjects (Subject 1, Subject 2, Subject 3). You can schedule a retest on your own, and no additional fees are required for the retest. There are no scheduling restrictions, but the driving skills test permit is valid for three years. If the applicant fails to complete the test within this period, the results of any passed subjects will become invalid.
