How to Recline the Front Passenger Seat?
2 Answers
For manual transmission vehicles, there is a lever at the junction between the front passenger seat and the backrest. Pull the lever to adjust the seat. For automatic transmission vehicles, there is a button next to the front passenger seat. Press and hold the button to adjust the seat back and forth.
As a frequent road-tripper, folding down the passenger seat is my most familiar hack. Typically, first unlock the adjustment lever under the seat (usually on the outer side), press it with your hand while pushing the backrest forward with your body. For some vehicles like my SUV, you need to lift the seat cushion first to achieve a fully flat position. Power seats are even simpler—just locate the round button on the side of the backrest, hold it for three seconds, and it automatically reclines. Note that if there's a child safety seat installed, remove it first, and the headrest might get stuck, requiring removal or rotation adjustment. Always remember to unbuckle the seatbelt during the process, or the latch could jam the mechanism. Finally, check the trunk divider—once folded down, the space becomes huge, perfect for a nap.
