Method for preparing windshield washer fluid: 1. Prepare a bottle of high-proof liquor and pour half of it into a large beverage bottle; 2. For daily use, add an appropriate amount of household dishwashing liquid. If used in winter, additionally include antifreeze; 3. Finally, add purified water and shake well. Remember not to use tap water—opt for mineral water or boiled and cooled water. Windshield washer fluid is widely used for quick stain removal and bright cleaning on various glass surfaces, including car windows, rearview mirrors, household glass, office glass, door and window glass, and decorative glass. It features comprehensive performance, simple usage, and can also be homemade. Due to different freezing points, windshield washer fluid is categorized into winter and summer types. During cold winters, it's essential to use winter-specific windshield washer fluid to avoid freezing and causing unnecessary damage to the car.

I just refilled the windshield washer fluid for my car a few days ago, and it's actually super simple. First, you need to locate that blue or white cap with the wiper symbol under the hood—it's usually a translucent plastic reservoir. In winter, remember to use antifreeze washer fluid, either -15°C or -25°C rated, and don't fill past the MAX line. If mixing your own, blend purified water with concentrated washer fluid cleaner at about a 1:100 ratio—just pour half a bottle of concentrate and top up the reservoir. I also like adding some medical alcohol to boost cleaning power, which helps remove summer bug splatters too. But never use dish soap directly—it'll corrode the nozzles and tubing over time.

Last time, the auto repair technician taught me two key points when choosing windshield washer fluid: cleaning power and freezing point. In northern winters, you must choose a fluid rated for at least -25°C, otherwise frozen pipes could cause even greater damage. In summer, cheaper washer fluid can be used, but during rainy seasons when windshield oil film is severe, it's best to buy fluid with oil film removal function—remember to shake well before pouring. Imported brands are unnecessarily expensive; the supermarket's 15-yuan-for-two-bottles type is sufficient. Don't overfill the reservoir when pouring liquid, as thermal expansion in winter may cause overflow. Most importantly, never use tap water as substitute—mineral deposits will clog the spray nozzles, and replacing a set of nozzles could cost hundreds of yuan.

To open the hood, locate the washer fluid reservoir marked with the wiper symbol. Pour the windshield washer fluid directly into the tank, but do not exceed the MAX line. Original washer fluid is expensive, so I often use concentrate mixed with 4 liters of purified water, adding a capful of medical alcohol for sterilization. Pay special attention to using antifreeze type in winter, while cheaper options can be chosen in the south. When filling, avoid the battery as spilled liquid may corrode the wiring. After filling, test the spray nozzle angle, as worn wiper blades can also cause poor cleaning.
