Correct method for parking an automatic transmission car: 1. Decelerate before parking, press the brake until the car comes to a complete stop, then shift the gear from Drive (D) to Neutral (N); 2. Turn the key to the ignition-off position (without cutting off power); 3. Engage the parking brake, then release the foot brake (the foot brake should remain pressed until this step); 4. Shift the gear to Park (P), then turn off the power and remove the key. An automatic transmission eliminates the need for the driver to manually shift gears, as the vehicle automatically selects the appropriate gear based on driving speed and traffic conditions. Typically, automatic transmission cars have six gear positions, arranged from top to bottom as: P (Park), R (Reverse), N (Neutral), D (Drive), S (Sport), and L (Low).
