First, press the brake pedal and start the engine; do not release the brake pedal at this time, shift into D gear; release the brake pedal and the vehicle will move forward. When turning off the engine, press the foot brake to stop the car; shift the gear from D to P; pull up the handbrake; release the foot brake, turn back the key; turn off the power and pull out the key.
When I first got the Great Wall Pao with automatic transmission, I was quite excited. Here’s a simple sharing of my operating experience. After getting in the car, first press the brake pedal firmly, then press the one-button start to ignite the engine. The gear display shows PRND: use P (Park) when stopping, shift to R (Reverse) for backing up while carefully checking the rearview mirrors, and directly shift to D (Drive) for moving forward—just lightly press the accelerator, and the car will automatically shift gears to move ahead. In city driving, D (Drive) handles daily uphill, downhill, or traffic jam situations. When parking, always press the brake, shift to P (Park), pull up the handbrake, and turn off the engine to develop good habits and prevent transmission damage. For beginners, it’s recommended to practice slow reversing and starting more often—the Great Wall Pao responds sensitively, but avoid sudden acceleration to prolong its lifespan. Regularly check the transmission fluid and change it every two years to maintain smooth system operation and effortless driving. Overall, it’s easy to get started, but safe driving is the top priority.
