How to Operate the Gear Shift in a Volkswagen?

After getting in the car, press down on the brake and clutch pedals. Turn the key to power on and then start the vehicle. Continue holding the brake and clutch pedals, use your right hand to press down the gear shift lever, move it to the left, and once it reaches the end, push it forward. Press the button on the top of the handbrake and lower the handbrake.
When I first learned to drive, it was quite interesting to drive a manual transmission Volkswagen. To start, you need to fully depress the clutch pedal first, then smoothly push the gear lever into first gear position. Slowly release the clutch with your left foot while gently pressing the accelerator with your right foot, and the car will start moving. When the speed increases during driving, you need to shift up in time: depress the clutch and shift to second or third gear; when downshifting, also depress the clutch to avoid jerking. When stopping, first press the brake and clutch, then return to neutral. If it's an automatic transmission model, such as Volkswagen's DSG, it's much simpler: press the brake pedal and move the gear lever from P position to D position to start; push it to R position for reverse. The key is not to rush the operation. After a few days of practice, you'll get the hang of it. Shifting gears without depressing the clutch can damage the car, and mistakenly pushing the R position in an automatic transmission can also be dangerous. Develop good daily driving habits: confirm the gear position before turning off the engine, and engage the handbrake when parking. This will result in lower fuel consumption and peace of mind.
