How to Operate the Electronic Parking Brake?

Electronic parking brake operation method is: 1. After starting the vehicle, simply shift the gear lever to D (Drive) gear; 2. Then lightly press the accelerator in R (Reverse) gear. The electronic parking brake is a technology that achieves parking braking through electronic control, with the same working principle as the mechanical handbrake, both achieving parking control through the friction generated between the brake disc and brake pads. The only difference is that the control method has changed from the previous mechanical handbrake lever to an electronic button. The advantages of the electronic parking brake system include: 1. The parking brake handle inside the cabin is eliminated, providing more design space for the overall interior styling; 2. Parking braking is replaced by a single button, eliminating the need for the driver to pull the parking brake handle forcefully, making it simpler and less strenuous, especially reducing the operational intensity for female drivers; 3. The system can achieve basic functions such as static parking, static release, and automatic release.
In my experience, the electronic parking brake is actually very user-friendly. When parking, just press the button with the 'P' symbol next to the gear lever, and a red warning light will appear on the dashboard. If parking on a slope, remember to press the foot brake first before engaging the electronic parking brake to prevent the car from rolling. Starting is even easier—just fasten your seatbelt and step on the accelerator, and the parking brake will release automatically without any manual operation. However, in case of a system malfunction, you can force-release it by holding the button for 5 seconds. Don’t play around with it unnecessarily—recently, I saw news about someone accidentally activating the electronic parking brake while driving, causing the tires to lock up instantly, which is extremely dangerous.
