How to Operate an Automatic Transmission Car When Parking?
1 Answers
Correct parking method for automatic transmission cars is as follows: 1. When the car stops, first decelerate, press the brake, and shift into N gear. The reason for not directly shifting to P gear before turning off the engine is to avoid the transmission passing through R gear while the engine is running, thereby reducing an extra impact. 2. Turn off the engine. At this point, the power won't be cut off because P gear hasn't been engaged, and the key cannot be removed. 3. Pull up the handbrake and release the foot brake. You can feel the force has been applied to the handbrake. After the car is completely stationary, shift to P gear to prevent the force from acting on the P gear. 4. Cut off the power and remove the key. The parking process is now complete.
