How to Open the Subaru Hood?

The hood release lever is located inside the vehicle and needs to be manually operated. The lever is positioned around the foot pedal area. There is a release button on the left side of the foot pedal. Press this button to unlock the exterior hood. Insert the hood's hydraulic strut into the designated slot to prop up the hood.
When I first bought my Subaru Forester, I didn't know how to open the hood either, but I figured it out eventually. Step one: sit in the driver's seat, and on the left side near your foot, there's a handle with an engine icon. Pull it down firmly until you hear a click. Then, step out and look at the front of the car—the hood will pop up slightly with a gap. Slide your fingers into the yellow latch in the middle, push it all the way to the left while lifting the hood, and the two hydraulic struts will automatically hold it up. Be careful in winter as plastic parts may stiffen—don't yank the handle too hard to avoid snapping the cable. After turning off the engine, wait at least three minutes before opening to prevent burns. When washing the car, always check if the hydraulic strut seals are leaking oil to ensure smooth opening and closing.
