How to Open the S90 Hood?

There is a hood release switch located at the lower left corner of the driver's seat. Pull the switch to activate it, at which point the hood will make a sound. Gently lift the hood upwards slowly, then locate the hood support rod in the front compartment and secure the hood onto the rod. Functions of the hood: 1. Airflow guidance: For objects moving at high speeds through air, the aerodynamic drag and turbulence generated around the object directly affect its trajectory and speed. The hood's shape effectively adjusts the direction of airflow relative to the car's movement and mitigates resistance. 2. Protection for the engine and surrounding pipeline components: Beneath the hood lie critical automotive components including the engine, electrical circuits, fuel system, and transmission system.
Opening the hood of the S90 is actually quite simple. After driving this car for three years, I've mastered the process. First, sit in the driver's seat and look down near the left foot pedal. You'll find a black plastic handle marked with an engine icon. Give it a firm pull until you hear a 'click' sound, which means the front hood has popped open slightly. Then, exit the car and walk to the front center. Reach into the gap and you'll feel a yellow metal lever. Push it all the way to the right while lifting upwards, and the hood will fully open. Just remember to use the support rod to prop it up. Last year when I was repairing the car, I forgot to use the rod and the hood suddenly slammed down, almost crushing my hand.
Just last week, I helped my wife refill the windshield washer fluid for her S90. After unlocking the car with the key, you don't need to start the engine. Just squat near the driver's seat and look for the hood release lever. It's located at the very bottom of the dashboard on the lower left side of the steering wheel, shaped like a half-moon. Pull it once, and the front hood will pop up about two centimeters. Then, go to the front center of the car, reach into the gap where the hood is slightly raised, and you'll feel a textured metal rod. Use your thumb to pull it toward you while lifting the hood with your other hand. This car features a dual hydraulic strut design, so there's no need to prop it up with a stick, which is quite convenient. Beginners should be careful not to perform this operation on a slope.
