How to Open the Hood of Volkswagen Tiguan L?

There is a lever on the left side of the driver's left leg in the Volkswagen Tiguan L. Pull it. After hearing a sound, walk to the front of the car. Slowly reach your hand into the area above the Volkswagen logo under the hood, where there is a small latch. Pull it upward. Use your right hand to lift the hood. There is a support rod at the front of the engine compartment. Use your left hand to insert the support rod into the corresponding hole inside the hood.
After driving for so many years, I find opening the hood of the Volkswagen Tiguan L quite simple. First, sit in the driver's seat and locate the small lever near your left foot. Gently pull it to release the first lock of the hood. Then quickly get out of the car, go to the front, squat down, and look for a small hook or button in the middle of the hood's front edge. Press it down or pull it slightly outward with your finger while using your other hand to steadily lift the hood upward. Remember not to lift it too forcefully to avoid pinching your fingers—I once scraped my skin because I was in a hurry. Volkswagen's design is very safe, with a double-lock mechanism to prevent accidental opening. Regularly open it during maintenance to check the engine oil and coolant, ensuring everything is in order. Another tip: if the hook gets stuck, don’t force it—try gently shaking it a few times or applying a bit of lubricant. The whole process takes just a minute, and once you get used to it, it’s very convenient and practical.
