The method to open the hood of a Lavida is as follows: Lift the hood release lever located on the left side of the driver's seat, raise the engine compartment hood and open it, then remove the support rod from its fixed bracket and hook it into the groove on the engine compartment hood. Note: If steam or coolant is visible escaping from the engine compartment, do not open the hood. Wait until there is no steam, smoke, or coolant escaping from the engine compartment and the engine has cooled down before opening the hood. After closing the hood, check to ensure it is properly secured. The closed hood should be flush with the adjacent body panels.
