How to open the hood of a Corolla: The hood can be opened from the hood release lever located under the driver's side dashboard. There is a pull-handle switch; after pulling it, there is a latch under the hood that needs to be pushed to the left. Functions of the hood: 1. Airflow guidance; 2. Protection for the engine and surrounding pipeline components; 3. Aesthetics; 4. Assisting driving visibility; 5. Preventing accidents. The Corolla's body dimensions are 4635 mm in length, 1780 mm in width, and 1455 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2700 mm. The Corolla features front-wheel drive, a front suspension type of MacPherson strut independent suspension, a rear suspension type of E-type multi-link independent suspension, and a unibody structure.
I remember the first time I opened the hood of my Corolla, I was a bit confused. First, sit in the driver's seat and make sure the engine is turned off. Near the door, on the lower left side of the steering wheel, there's a plastic handle or lever labeled "Hood Release." Gently pull it, and you'll hear a "click" sound from the front of the hood, indicating it's popped open slightly. Then, step out to the front of the car. There will now be a small gap in the hood. Reach inside the gap, and in the center, there's a hook or button. Move it to the left or upwards to fully release the hood. Next, slowly lift the hood—it will automatically prop up with a support rod that fits into a notch. If it doesn’t open, check if the handle is stuck or if the support rod is bent (I always forget this part). Open the hood regularly when checking engine oil or coolant to avoid malfunctions.
