How to Open the Golf Trunk?

Golf's trunk can be opened via the switch located at the bottom left of the driver's compartment. If it cannot be opened, follow these steps: 1. First, use a flat-head screwdriver: gently pry open the two plastic covers behind the rear seat and remove them. 2. Then, use a Phillips screwdriver: remove the four screws securing the speaker, pull the speaker out. This allows easier access to reach inside through the speaker hole, locate the two screws securing the rear seat back, and remove these two screws with a hex Torx screwdriver. 3. Next, flip the rear seat cushion forward: this allows half of the body to enter the trunk. Use a flashlight for illumination, then remove the two screws on the trunk lock. At this point, the lock will separate from the trunk lid, and the trunk can be opened directly.
I'm relatively new to the Golf and found exploring the trunk opening methods quite interesting. There are generally three ways: first, simply press the unlock button on the remote key fob for a one-touch opening, which is quick and easy; second, there's a push-button beneath the Volkswagen logo at the rear that automatically pops the trunk when pressed; lastly, near the driver's left foot inside the car, a pull lever can be gently tugged to release the trunk. Higher trim models may even feature a kick sensor function—just a swift foot motion near the rear bumper opens it hands-free, especially handy when carrying heavy items. I recall once when the key fob battery died, using the built-in mechanical key to manually unlock the trunk via its keyhole saved the day. For routine maintenance, I make it a habit to check the key fob's battery level and ensure the spare key is functional as a precaution. The overall design is very user-centric, significantly enhancing convenience.
