How to Open the Fuel Tank of a Yamaha Scooter?

You can turn the key towards the lock position (to lock the steering, you need to press the key down, while opening the fuel tank cap is in the same direction but without pressing). Release the key when you hear the sound of the fuel tank opening. Note that Yamaha scooters may have different fuel tank structures depending on the engine displacement.
The fuel tank of a Yamaha scooter is actually quite simple. A common design is that the fuel tank is located under the seat, which requires unlocking the seat lock with a key first. Find the keyhole on the left side of the body or near the seat, insert the key and turn it left or right half a turn, then the seat will pop open. Lift the seat and you'll see the fuel cap, usually a black plastic lid, which can be unscrewed counterclockwise by hand. Remember to turn off the engine before refueling, and when closing the cap after filling up, make sure you hear a click to confirm it's tightened. Some newer models have the fuel tank on the side of the footboard, where you can open it by directly inserting the key into the fuel cap. However, if you've just bought a new scooter, check the manual as the location may vary by model.
