There are actually several ways to open the fuel tank cap on the Volkswagen Lamando. If you're driving an older model with a manual fuel tank cap, simply get out of the car and press the right side of the cap—it will pop open. Newer models mostly come with an electric fuel tank cap, which is very convenient. Located below the door storage compartment on the driver's side, there's a silver button with a fuel tank symbol. Just press it gently after parking to unlock the cap. Importantly, the car must be turned off or in the ignition-on state—some drivers aren't aware of this and end up frustrated at gas stations. If you find the fuel tank cap stuck and won't open, don't force it; it's likely due to debris in the lock mechanism or a stuck motor. Last time, a colleague's car had its lock hole frozen by car wash foam, and it took half a minute with a hairdryer to fix it.
