How to Open the Fuel Tank Cap of Toyota Prado?
2 Answers
The fuel tank cap switch is located below the steering wheel, above the foot pedals. There are two recessed buttons, and the left one is the fuel tank switch. Press the fuel tank switch to open the fuel tank cap, which is located on the left side. The position is the same for both the new and old models this year. When parking, make sure to lock the vehicle. Otherwise, the fuel tank cap can be opened if the central control is not locked, which poses a certain risk.
The fuel tank cap of the Toyota Prado is actually quite easy to open. When you stand at the rear of the vehicle facing the side with the fuel tank cap, you can reach a small button by extending your hand. Press it gently, and the cap will pop open, allowing you to directly unscrew the inner sealing cap to refuel. Some drivers might encounter situations where pressing the button doesn't work—this is usually because the fuel tank cap automatically locks when the vehicle is locked. In such cases, you'll need to press the unlock button on the car key or unlock the entire vehicle first. Additionally, be careful not to press the button too forcefully, as excessive force might cause the spring to jam, leading to complications. After refueling, remember to tighten the cap securely until you hear a click, ensuring it's properly sealed. Otherwise, fuel vapor may escape, harming the environment and potentially triggering a warning light. The fuel tank cap usually displays the recommended tire pressure and fuel grade, so it's a good idea to check these details before refueling.
