How to Open the Front Hood of the 14th Generation Sylphy?

14th Generation Sylphy's front hood is opened via a switch. The switch is located at the bottom left of the vehicle's center console, below the left air vent. There are two switches in this position: one is the fuel tank switch, and the other is the front hood switch. The front hood switch is the second one; pulling it toward the seat direction will open the hood. Below are the steps to open the front hood of the 14th Generation Sylphy: 1. Pull the hood release switch, then reach into the gap of the hood. There is a latch inside the hood; pull it upward to release the hood. 2. After opening the hood, use the hood support rod to prop it up securely. Ensure the support is stable before letting go. 3. When closing the hood, first lower the hood support rod, then hold the hood with the other hand and slowly lower it. 4. When the hood is about 50mm-60mm from closing, release it to let it fall freely. You should hear a "clunk" sound, indicating it is locked. If the hood is not allowed to fall freely, it may not close properly.
A couple days ago I just helped my neighbor open the hood of his 14th-gen Sylphy. It's actually quite simple. There's a pull handle with an engine icon near the brake pedal under the driver's seat - give it a firm tug toward you until you hear the 'click' of the latch releasing. Don't rush to lift the hood yet. Walk to the front center of the car, feel for a small metal lever hidden behind the grille above the emblem. Flip it to the right while simultaneously lifting the hood with one hand, keeping steady pressure. Once open, remember to secure the hood with the support rod - the Sylphy uses a U-shaped rod tip that inserts directly into pre-drilled holes on the hood. Always ensure the engine is off with key removed before opening, and cold engine operation is safest to avoid burns.
