How to Open the Front Hood of a Passat?

Pull the engine hood release handle marked with this symbol, located to the left of the steering column inside the vehicle. Move to the front of the vehicle to locate the auxiliary release handle for the engine hood, then push the auxiliary release handle towards the driver's side of the vehicle. Lift the support rod from the fixed sleeve above the radiator and securely place the engine hood support rod into the groove beneath the engine hood.
When I first bought my Passat, I was also confused about how to open the front hood. Now I'm quite skilled at it. It usually takes two steps: First, sit in the driver's seat, look down near the lower left corner of the steering wheel for a small lever with the car logo on it; gently pull it, and you'll hear a click as the hood pops open. Then, get out of the car, walk to the front, and reach into the middle part of the hood gap to find a small latch; press it, and you can lift the hood up. Never forget to prop up the support rod to secure it, or the hood might slide down and hit your hand. I also recommend regularly cleaning the engine area to prevent dust buildup, which can affect the car's cooling. Experience tells me that under the hood lie critical components like engine oil and coolant, so always ensure safe operation before any maintenance—park the car securely, turn off the engine, and prevent accidental starts.
