How to Open the BYD Charging Port?

The BYD charging port is located behind the front grille emblem. The charging port cover switch is located at the lower left side of the driver's dashboard. Pull the charging port cover release handle, and the cover will automatically pop open.
Opening the charging port on a BYD is quite simple. As a BYD owner for several years, I usually just press the dedicated button inside the car to open it. Locate the button with the charging icon on the left side of the steering wheel or on the center console, and a gentle press will pop open the cover. The remote key also works—there's a charging button on it; holding it down for a few seconds can remotely open the port. If the key is out of battery or the button fails, don't panic. After parking the car in a safe place, try gently prying open the edge of the cover—there's a small mechanical lock inside. Remember to ensure the car is parked and turned off before operating, and avoid forcing the charging port open to prevent damaging the components. Regularly check the seal of the cover during maintenance to keep dust and water out, which can affect charging efficiency. This small tip can extend the lifespan of the parts and save money. After charging, make sure to close the cover tightly to protect against rain—just make it a habit.
