How to Open a Tesla Car Door?

Tesla car doors have an electronic button on the door handle. Pressing this button will open the door. As long as the Tesla detects a valid key nearby, lightly pressing the door handle will cause it to pop out, and a simple pull will open the door. Tesla is an American electric vehicle and energy company, with models including the Roadster, Model S, Model X, and Model 3. Taking the Model 3 as an example, its body dimensions are 4694mm in length, 1850mm in width, and 1443mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2875mm. The rear motor of this car has a maximum power of 202kw and a maximum torque of 404nm.
As a frequent Tesla driver, I find the door-opening mechanism very convenient. For Model 3 or Y, the door handles are flush-mounted—just press the front end lightly to pop them out, then pull to open. Model S and X doors pop out automatically. I usually unlock the car via the mobile app—when Bluetooth is enabled, the car senses my phone and unlocks as I approach. If my phone runs out of battery, I keep a key card (credit-card-sized) to tap against the B-pillar near the door for access. Inside, there’s a small pull tab to manually open the door. Occasionally, the app glitches, but the system quickly recovers, and the mechanical release under the door works in emergencies. These designs feel smart and reliable. Whenever I explain it to friends, I remind them to update the app regularly and check battery levels to avoid surprises. While Tesla doors are straightforward, new users might need a try or two to get the hang of it—overall, it’s far more convenient than traditional keys.
