How to Modify Anti-Lag System?
1 Answers
Modifying an anti-lag system is not recommended. Here are the details: 1. To install an anti-lag system in a family car, the ECU needs to be reprogrammed to allow the fuel injection system to continue spraying fuel when the throttle is released. However, modifying anti-lag ignition for family cars is illegal. Anti-lag systems are only feasible in turbocharged vehicles, commonly used in racing cars. 2. Anti-lag works by stopping the ignition action when lifting off the throttle during gear shifts, intentionally allowing the air-fuel mixture to enter the exhaust manifold. The extremely high temperature in the manifold causes the mixture to explode upon contact, generating powerful explosion pressure that drives the turbine's exhaust blades. This, in turn, spins the turbocharger's compressor wheel at high speed, maintaining boost pressure even during low-speed driving or throttle-off gear shifts. 3. The anti-lag system was developed to reduce turbo lag. Most family turbocharged cars use small-inertia turbos to achieve quick spool-up, making them unsuitable for anti-lag modifications. If a family car is to be equipped with an anti-lag system, a larger turbo must be installed. However, modifying the stock turbo with an anti-lag system can easily cause damage.
