How to Measure Cylinder Pressure in an Engine?
1 Answers
Engine cylinder pressure measurement method is: 1. First check the oil level, starter and battery operation status; 2. Start the engine and wait until the coolant temperature reaches 80-95 degrees; 3. Turn off the engine, remove the high-voltage wires and spark plugs; 4. Rotate the crankshaft to remove impurities from the cylinders; 5. Connect the pressure gauge to the spark plug hole; 6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal, use the starter motor to rotate the crankshaft and take readings; 7. Repeat steps 3-6 for 3-6 times to ensure each cylinder's pressure variation stays within specified limits (maximum deviation between cylinders is 100KPA); 8. If readings are out of range, inject a small amount of oil into the spark plug hole and repeat steps 3-6.
