How to manually reset the maintenance light on a 2018 Chevrolet Cavalier low trim?

Turn off the ignition switch to ensure the vehicle is powered off, then press and hold the "0.0" button in the center of the instrument panel. While turning on the ignition switch, continue holding the "0.0" button without releasing it. Keep pressing the "0.0" button until text appears on the display screen. Press the "0.0" button to confirm the status, then check if the maintenance light has been reset. If not, you must start the process over from the beginning.
When I first drove the base model of the 2018 Cavalier, I had no idea what to do when the maintenance light came on. Later, I figured out the manual reset method myself: You need to sit in the car, turn the key to the ON position—the dashboard lights up but don’t start the engine. Then, press and hold the TRIP button on the steering wheel to toggle until the screen displays 'OIL LIFE.' Next, press and hold the SET button for about 5 seconds—it will flash and then show 100%, resetting the maintenance light. I tried it twice back then and succeeded—pretty reliable. I’ve been using this method for three years now. It’s best to do this right after maintenance to avoid the light misleading you into thinking it’s time for an oil change. The Cavalier’s design is quite user-friendly—doing it yourself saves a trip to the dealership and extra costs. Don’t stress when doing it; just take your time.
