O-ring chains should be lubricated every 500 kilometers of riding or after riding in the rain. After every two lubrications, a cleaning is required. The main lubrication areas are the O-rings to maintain their elasticity, as well as the lubrication between the bushings and rotors. O-ring chains have a seal between the inner and outer plates that encapsulates lubricant to maintain chain lubrication. O-ring chains generally consist of inner plates, outer plates, pins, bushings, rollers, O-rings, and other components. Precautions for O-ring chain maintenance: Before cleaning, always prepare an oil pan beneath the chain. Avoid letting oily chain dirt come into direct contact with the ground to prevent environmental pollution. Do not use kerosene to clean O-ring chains, as kerosene may reduce the elasticity of the O-rings, accelerate their aging, cause the lubricant inside the bushings to be thrown out, lose lubrication effectiveness, and shorten the lifespan of the O-ring chain. Acidic substances can severely damage the chain. It is recommended to use original chain cleaners for better maintenance results.
