The method to lift up the wiper blades on a Sylphy is as follows: First, press the ACC switch to power on the car, then quickly push the wiper switch upward twice. At this point, the wipers will automatically move to the middle of the windshield, allowing you to lift them up from the center position. The Sylphy is a compact car equipped with a 1.6L L4 engine featuring natural aspiration. The dimensions of the car are 4641mm in length, 1815mm in width, and 1450mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2712mm. It is a 4-door, 5-seater sedan with a CVT transmission and a top speed of 186 km/h.

I used to ponder this issue when replacing the wipers on my Sylphy. Actually, the operation is quite simple—the key is to act quickly within 10 seconds after turning off the engine: immediately push the wiper control stalk (on the right side of the steering wheel) downward once after shutting off the engine. At this point, the wipers will swipe once but won’t return to their original position, stopping directly in the middle of the windshield. Then, you can easily lift the wiper arms upright. Especially in winter, doing this in advance prevents the wiper blades from freezing onto the glass. It’s also very convenient for car washes or installing new wiper blades. A quick reminder: remember to disable the automatic wiper function before operating to avoid triggering it accidentally when touched. This method is generally applicable to Nissan vehicles, and after trying it two or three times, you’ll get the hang of it.

I remember spending a long time checking the manual the first time I tried to set the wipers upright on my Sylphy. Actually, there's a trick to it. After turning off the engine, you need to operate within ten seconds—just quickly press the control stalk on the right side of the steering wheel downward once and release. This will make the wipers stop in the middle of the windshield, allowing you to lift the wiper arms directly to adjust their angle. It's especially useful in winter—doing this before parking prevents them from freezing. Be gentle when lifting to avoid scratching the edge of the glass. Remember to return the wipers to their original position before starting the car again, or the motor might get damaged. After trying a couple of times, you'll get the timing right.

The Nissan Sylphy has a fixed procedure for lifting the wipers: within 10 seconds after turning off the engine, push the wiper control lever down to the intermittent position and then release it, and the wipers will stop in the vertical position. After that, you can simply lift the wiper arm manually. The key point is to act quickly after powering off, as the system will exit maintenance mode if you're too slow. This trick is most commonly used when replacing wiper blades, and it also prevents the rubber blades from being deformed due to long-term pressure. I always do this during seasonal checks, taking the opportunity to clean leaves and debris accumulated at the base of the wipers. The operation is simple and takes only 30 seconds.
