How to Lift the Wiper Blades on a Volkswagen?

First press the start button without starting the engine. After about 5 seconds of vehicle self-check, press the engine button again to turn it off. Within 10 seconds, pull the wiper lever toward the steering wheel, and the wiper blades will automatically move to the middle of the windshield. Finally, manually lift the wiper blades. How to use the wiper blades: 1. Always ensure the windshield surface is wet before using the wiper blades. The wiping part of the wiper blades is made of natural rubber material. Wiping on a completely dry windshield may cause excessive friction, damaging the rubber surface and affecting wiping performance. 2. During regular car washing, clean off any oil stains or dirt attached to the windshield surface to keep it clean and free of attachments.
I've been driving a Volkswagen for over a decade, but it wasn't until my first car wash when the wipers were frozen that I learned how to lift them. The operation is actually quite simple: first, make sure the car is completely turned off with the key in the OFF position. Then locate the wiper control lever on the left side of the steering wheel, push it firmly upward and hold for a few seconds. At this point, the wipers will move and automatically stop in the middle of the windshield. After that, you can gently lift the wiper arm manually to separate it from the glass surface. Remember not to force it during winter or rainy days to prevent spring rebound injuries; this method is necessary to protect the windshield when washing the car or replacing wiper blades. During regular maintenance, it's advisable to check the wiper condition to avoid unexpected issues caused by long-term wear.
