How to Install ETC on the Car Windshield?
1 Answers
ETC installation process is as follows: Upon receiving the device, first check if the ETC card and electronic tag (OBU) are damaged. Press the anti-tamper button on the back of the OBU. The red light will briefly illuminate, and the OLED screen will display "Tag Invalid" and "Please Insert Card," indicating the device is functioning properly. Clean the front windshield, ensuring the glass surface is smooth, clean, and dry. Then peel off the adhesive backing of the OBU and stick it to the installation position. Press firmly for 2-3 minutes to remove any air bubbles. Insert the ETC card with the front side facing the driver and the back side facing the windshield. The chip should be inserted into the OBU device. ETC Usage Notes: The ETC transaction sensing range is 8 meters. When encountering a stationary vehicle ahead, maintain a distance of more than 10 meters to prevent automatic payment for the vehicle in front in case its ETC device is faulty or nonexistent. The ETC lane recognition speed is 20 km/h. Driving too fast may result in failure to read the vehicle's device information and unsuccessful fee deduction. Unauthorized removal or movement of the OBU device, or if the ETC electronic tag falls off or becomes loose, will render the tag invalid. You can take it to the bank where the ETC card was issued or a highway service center for inspection. If the issue is not due to human error, reactivation may be sufficient. When using a debit card linked to ETC, insufficient balance may cause fee deduction failure. Follow the instructions of on-site staff to proceed to a manual MTC lane and pay with cash or card. A windshield that is too thick may cause poor signal reception. This is especially important for vehicles that have had their windshields replaced after accidents or for those with modified front windshields.
